How to read Current Affairs? | UPSC CSE

 Current events of National and International importance are called Current Affairs. The aspirant has to read major newspapers daily and make notes of the important incidents that feel relevant to the examination. Today we will discuss in detail how to read current affairs. 

There are many main topics in Current Affairs, a candidate should focus on. They are 

 · Polity affairs include the news about the constitution of India, Rajya Sabha, and Lok Sabha news. Bills and Acts, Fundamental Rights, Social issues, electoral reforms, cooperative issues, and SC-ST Rights and others. 

· Economy news is about the Indian economy, banking and finance, NPA issues, Unemployment, poverty, inequality, various sectors of the Indian economy, India and its trade agreement, and news about WTO, IMF, World Bank, and others. 

· Art and Culture news includes National Heritage Sites, monuments, national festivals, regional festivals, dance forms, paintings, and other forms of art. 

· Latest scientific developments, Growth in Artificial Intelligence, Indian Space Programs, Important space missions, the Contribution of India in the science field, and communication technologies are also important topics to read. 

 · Aspirants should also cover government schemes, government policies, and initiatives for various sectors. Also Annual Budget and Economic Survey summary of the current year. · These are all the national news, and topics. 

Aspirants should also read about Indian visits to multilateral forums like WTO(World Trade Organization), UN(United Nations), and other organizations, and major political events as well. 

Sources for Current Affairs. 

The primary source to stay updated with the news is national newspapers like The Hindu and Indian Express. Aspirants can also read government magazines like Yojana and Kurukshetra. 

They can also pick up yearly books like the India yearbook, Manorama yearbook, and Mathrubhumi yearbook which will help them to prepare for the examination. In addition to the newspaper, they can also read, PIB releases. 

Also, look at the previous year’s question papers so they will have an idea of what type of questions will come during the examination. 

 So it is important for the aspirants to read the major newspaper every day and make notes out of it because during the revision time it will be helpful for them to go through all the events in a short period of time.
