Food Web is a representation of the species and organisms in a community and it shows the relationship of the species with one another. It helps us to understand how energy is exchanged.
The majority of the species in the ecosystem have more than one food source because of the food web and it helps to boost their chances of survival
Trophic Levels In a Food Web There are different trophic levels in a food web and they are:
1)Primary Producers:
Primary Producers are organism that uses photosynthesis to generate food on their own. For example Plants, algae use solar energy and produce food that can be useful to other animals and species.
2)Primary Consumers:
Primary Consumers are the organism that derives their energy by surviving upon the main producers. The prime example of Primary consumers is Herbivores animals that only eat grass and various types of plants that will help them to get energy.
3)Secondary Consumers
The Secondary consumers are the organism that preys on the primary consumers. Most of the secondary consumers are carnivores and omnivore animals.
4)Tertiary Consumers
After the secondary consumers end their life then the decomposers play a major role in the food chain. They feed on the secondary consumers and the energy is recycled back to the plants.
The major difference between the food chain and the food web is that the disturbance in the trophic level will not disturb the entire food web because the species have multiple sources for survival. The
Food web is useful to understand how global warming and habitation destruction and extinctions are happening. Every species depends upon the other ones to survive and get nourishment and oxygen.
