Pranayama is an ancient method or practice of controlling your breath. The goal of pranayama is to connect your body and mind and supply your body with oxygen while removing toxins. So today we will be discussing in detail the physical and emotional benefits of Pranayama.

The breathing exercises can be practiced at any time. For example, you can do them while performing Yoga Asanas, or you can practice them while meditating, or you can simply sit in one position and focus on inhaling and exhaling.

According to various studies, pranayama has many health benefits in different ways. Pranayama is also a great option for students who are preparing for competitive exams. It helps you to stay in the moment and focus on your preparation.

1. Pranayama helps to reduce stress levels in young adults. By practicing pranayama regularly, the nervous system will calm down and improves your stress response.

2. As the stress effects go down with the practice of pranayama, it will also help you to sleep better. It also decreases snoring and daytime sleepiness.

3. During Pranayama it is important that you need to be aware of your breathing and how it feels during the inhaling and exhaling process. Practice focusing on the present moment, instead of the past and future. This practice is called mindfulness. In recent studies, it was clearly shown that students who practiced pranayama displayed higher levels of mindfulness and showed better levels of emotional regulation.

4. By practicing pranayama for 1 hour a day has a significant effect on lung function. Pranayama may be useful for treating some lung problems like asthma, and allergic bronchitis, and also helps to recover from pneumonia.

5. Pranayama improves executive function which includes your working memory, cognitive flexibility, and reasoning skills, and improves your reaction time as well. The increased oxygen uptake energizes brain cells and plays an important role in the memory aspect as well.

So this is all about the physical and emotional benefits of pranayama. Practice the pranayama daily and stay in the moment that helps a lot in focusing during the exam preparation times.
