Ecology is the branch of biology which is concerned with the relations of organisms to one another and their surroundings or environment. Today we will study in detail the levels of Ecology and also the scope of Ecology

Levels Of Ecology

There are five levels of Ecology and all of them are mentioned below according to their sizes from small to large.

1. Organism– Organism is the lowest level of the ecology, and the organisms include both unicellular and multi-cellular organisms. All the living species in this level have different characteristics which are required for the existence of life.

2. Population– Population is a general term used for a group of individuals of a single species living together in a geographical area. Population depends upon resources and they interact, compete and interbreed with each other.

3. Community– Community is another basic term that is used to refer to several populations that interact, compete and live in a geographical area. Community inhabits a common environment and they are interdependent.

4. Ecosystem– The ecosystem is nothing but the living species and other components which are existing and interacting within a given area. The interaction between the living and non-living components of the environment is also included in the ecosystem.

5. Biosphere– The biosphere is the last and the highest level of the ecology. It is the global system that consists of all the living organisms and other aspects which support the term called life. The biosphere mostly refers to the part of the earth’s crust.

Scope Of Ecology

Ecology is the branch of biology that mostly deals with the relation of organisms or groups of organisms in a living area. The focus of ecology is on the role of man in the degradation of the environment and suggests remedies which are Ecology for minimizing the effects of pollution, deforestation, killing of animal life, chemical or biological or nuclear warfare, population explosion, and others.

One of the core goals of ecology is to understand the distribution and abundance of living things in the physical environment and attain the goal which is required for the integration of scientific disciplines inside and outside of biology.

Ecology is working on the factors that influence the survival of the endangered species by using mathematical models to predict how current situations affect the endangered species
