Study Tips and Techniques UPSC | UPSC CSE

Preparing for UPSC has a lot to study and a lot to remember. You have to go through the concept and understand it perfectly, and then revise it multiple times. We know that this is a big process and it is hard to remember everything. That is why we have brought some tips and techniques which would help you in studying.

Create visuals of the words

It is a proven fact that our brain registers what we see, and what we hear. So whenever you are reading something, make it easier by creating a chart, a graph, or some kind of visual representation which will help you with the information.

Visualize the words in your head and the more you visualize the better you will remember the topic. Another method is to hear, take the help of someone, or listen to the online classes in your scheduled time.

Focus on what you hear. By doing this exercise, the mind registers more information quite easily and helps you during preparation as well.

Switch between the topics while you study

It is quite common that if we are reading a topic, we go through it 10 times or 15 times to memorize it. But some research says that switching between the topics like if you are reading Harappan Trade, switching to decline to Harappan culture, and learning them simultaneously will help in memorizing something even more effectively.

We know that this will be hard, but believe us that it will train you more effectively in less time.

Discuss the topic with others

There are simple methods in this process. First, if you have a friend or any other person who is sharing the same interest as you. Discuss the topic which you read today with your friend. Discussions will help you to understand the topic even better, you will get another perspective.

Once the discussion is over, you can understand which perspective was better. The other method is to study as if you are teaching. Once you are done reading, try explaining the topic to your friend in simple terms first. If you can explain the topic without any effort, then you have done well in remembering the major information of the topic.

Revision is important

Revision is one of the key aspects of studies. The more you revise, the more you will remember the topic. Initially, you will take an hour to understand a topic thoroughly. When you revise it for the second time, the time will come down to half an hour.

Simultaneously the time will keep coming down and you will remember everything that you have studied it is a great way to register something in your head forever.

You can implement them in your schedule and make the best use of these studying tips.
