Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, defeated the much larger army of the ruling Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi, in the Battle of Panipat in 1526. However, he still faced a number of challenges in consolidating his rule over India.

Climate

One of the biggest problems that Babur faced was the climate of India. He was used to the colder climate of Central Asia, and he found the heat and humidity of India to be very uncomfortable. His soldiers also struggled with the heat, and many of them died from disease.

Culture

Another problem that Babur faced was the different culture of India. He was a Muslim, and the majority of the population of India was Hindu. Babur tried to be tolerant of the Hindu religion, but he was not always successful. There were a number of rebellions against his rule, and he had to use force to suppress them.

Opposition

Babur also faced opposition from other rulers in India. The most powerful of these was Rana Sanga, the ruler of Mewar. Rana Sanga was a Hindu Rajput, and he was determined to drive the Mughals out of India. He gathered a large army and marched on Delhi, but he was defeated by Babur in the Battle of Khanwa in 1527.

Internal problems

In addition to these external problems, Babur also faced internal problems within his own empire. His soldiers were often unhappy with the conditions in India, and they wanted to return to Central Asia. Babur had to use a combination of force and diplomacy to keep his army in line.

Despite all of these challenges, Babur was able to establish the Mughal Empire and rule over India for 4 years. He was a skilled military leader and a wise administrator, and he laid the foundation for the Mughal Empire to become one of the most powerful empires in India.
