Habitat and Ecology niches are the important factors of an ecosystem. They help us understand the interaction and the relationship of an organism with the environment. There is a very thin line of difference between the Habitat and Ecology niches, let’s dive into the details now.
A habitat is a place or region where species grow, interact, and live. Mostly temperature, sunlight, rainfall, and the type of soil are the important factors that help us to understand which type of species are available in a specific area.
Habitat is like an energy-providing area for a particular species. The best examples of habitats are deserts, ponds, freshwater lakes, oceans, mountains, and fountains. For example, in the hot regions, we will find camels, rattlesnakes, and plants like cacti which can survive without water for many days.
In the colder regions, we see polar bears, wolves, penguins, mountain leopards, and goats which can tackle the colder winds and weather. They grow, survive, and interact with the region around them.
Ecological Niche is nothing but the relationship of species with the factors which affect them. Ecological Niche deals with how species and populations respond to resources and competitors. Niche is unique for all species, and it helps to understand the requirement of the species and ensure that they are fulfilled.
Through time, the species develop features that will help them to adapt to their environment and use it for their benefit and survival. For example, some plants can fold or move their leaves during dry periods to prevent evaporation. Another best example is the flower Brahma Kamal which only blooms in a particular place and it opens only for one day.
The difference between the Habitat and Ecology niches is that the Habitat is like an address and the Ecological Niche is about the species like their details like types of species, their behavior, their survival methods, and others.
So this is all about Habitat and Ecological Niche. Every species has its capabilities and behavioral patterns which they adapt based on its environment
