What Is Technology Vision Document 2035?| UPSC Science and Technology

Technology Vision document 2035, is a vision produced by the Technology Information, Forecasting, and Assessment council. Today we will discuss in detail about Technology Vision document 2035 and its aspects. 

  Technology information, Forecasting, and Assessment Council(TIFAC) is an autonomous organization that comes under the department of Science and Technology. The futuristic vision gives an account of a future and a route where the technology delivers, provides, and secures. 

The vision document has identified 12 important sectors which are Education, Medical Sciences, Health care, Food, and Agriculture, Water, Energy, Environment, Habitat, Transportation, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Materials, Information, and communication technology. 

The Aim of this Technology vision document 2035 is to ensure the security and enhance the identity of every Indian. The document has categorized technologies into different classifications which is 

1. Technology leadership deals with the niche technologies in which we have core competencies, skilled manpower, infrastructure, and a traditional knowledge base. 

2. Technology Independence includes strategic technologies that we would have to develop on our own as they may not be obtainable from elsewhere. 

3. Technology Innovation includes linking disparate technologies together or making a breakthrough in one technology and applying it to another aspect. 

4. Technology adoption includes obtaining new technologies from elsewhere, and modify them as per the local needs, and reducing the dependence on other sources. 

5. Technology constraints include areas where technology is threatening and problematic. In simple terms, it will help us identify the social or environmental negative impact because of serious legal and ethical issues. 

The document also identifies important key activities that are 

1. Knowledge creation, In this aspect the document says that India cannot afford not to be at the forefront of the knowledge revolution, either applied or pure. 

2. another important key activity is ecosystem design for innovation and development. The document says that the primary responsibility for ecosystem design must necessarily rest with the government authorities. 

3. The other important key is the technology department with launching certain national missions that involve specific targets, and defined timelines that require only a few carefully defined identified players. 

So this is all about the technology vision document 2035. The vision document gave a separate ‘ Call to action to all the stakeholders for long-term sustainability of India’s technological glory.
