How is Air Force Day celebrated?

The main event is held at the Hindon Air Base near Delhi, where a grand parade and a spectacular air show are organized. The parade consists of various contingents of the IAF marching in front of the Chief of Air Staff and other dignitaries.
The air show features various aerobatic displays by various aircrafts and helicopters of the IAF. Some of the famous formations are Trishul, Surya Kiran, Sarang, Akash Ganga, Garuda Shakti, and Gagan Shakti
Apart from the Hindon Air Base event, various other events are held at different air bases and stations across the country. These include flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, blood donation camps, sports competitions, exhibitions, seminars. The aim of these events is to spread awareness about the history and achievements of the IAF among the public, especially among the youth.
The media also plays an important role in celebrating Air Force Day by broadcasting special programs and documentaries on various aspects of the IAF. Some notable films featuring the IAF are Aradhana (1969), Vijeta (1982), Border (1997), Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), and Gunjan Saxena (2020).
