Science and Technology Policy In India Science and Technology in India were glorious and more advanced during our ancient times. However, after the independence, the five-year planning scheme was designed over some time thus making science and technology a major area of emphasis.

Today we will be discussing in detail the Science and Technology Policies in India The torchbearer who initiated the foundation of Science and Technology was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The first policy relating to science and technology was introduced in 1958.

Science and Technology Policy 1958 This is the first science and technology policy that focused mostly on basic research in every field of science. They also focused on developing and making the basic infrastructure that is used for the development of scientific and technological research.

Science and Technology Policy 1983 This is the second policy of Science and Technology focused mostly on the achievement of technological development and self-reliance.

Science and Technology Policy 2003. This policy introduced various benefits to the field of science and technology and also focused on the investments which are required for research and development of new inventions and new technological aspects.

Science and Technology Policy 2013. In 2013, Science and Technology became an integral part of national development. In this policy, the authorities ensured that there will be faster, more sustainable development of the people. The key feature of this policy was promoting the scientific temper amongst society. Providing careers in Science, and technology for talented and bright students.

Positioning India amongst the top five countries by 2020. Creating an environment for enhanced private sector participation in R&D. Creating a robust national innovation system and triggering changes in the mindset to recognize, and reward performances.

So this is all about Science and Technology Policies in India. Now large-scale investments are being made into science projects which are aimed at the creation of the research and development infrastructure in India. With the help of Policies, Science and Technology will further develop our country and help us to become a top nation.
